Terms of Service

Last updated: May 24, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Mimicry (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

Mimicry is an independent, personal project. The Service is provided by an individual developer, not a corporation.

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.

2. Description of Service

Mimicry is a Mock API Engine designed for frontend developers. It allows you to create, manage, and simulate API endpoints with dynamically generated data — without writing any backend code.

The Service offers both a guest mode (no registration required) and registered accounts with extended features. Specific features, limits, and capabilities may vary by account type and may change over time.

The Service is intended solely as a development and prototyping tool. It must not be used to handle real user data, real financial transactions, or any production workload. Mock endpoints should not be used in production environments or to serve real user traffic.

3. Guest Access

Mimicry offers a guest mode that does not require account registration. Guest sessions rely on a client-side identifier to associate your activity with your session.

  • Guest data is temporary and subject to automatic deletion after a period of inactivity. Current retention periods are indicated within the product interface.
  • Guest access is subject to usage limits (number of projects, endpoints, etc.) which are displayed in the product and may be adjusted at any time.
  • You may migrate guest data to a registered account during signup.

4. Account Registration

To create a registered account, you must provide a valid email address and a password. You may optionally provide a display name. You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
  • All activity that occurs under your account
  • Providing accurate and current registration information

Account activation requires email verification.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Violate any applicable laws, regulations, or third-party rights
  • Distribute malicious, harmful, or illegal content through mock endpoints
  • Attempt to circumvent rate limits, abuse the guest system, or perform denial-of-service attacks
  • Perform unauthorized analysis of the Service's infrastructure, scrape content, or exploit the platform in ways it was not designed for
  • Use automated scripts or bots to create resources at scale without authorization
  • Impersonate another person or entity
  • Interfere with the stability, security, or availability of the Service, including through aggressive probing, automated scanning, or using mock endpoints to mask or relay illicit traffic
  • Attempt to circumvent any automated security mechanisms deployed by the Service, including bot detection and challenge systems

The Service may employ automated security mechanisms (including bot detection provided by Cloudflare) to protect its integrity. Attempts to bypass or circumvent these mechanisms are strictly prohibited and may result in immediate suspension of access.

The Service enforces usage limits and rate limits that may vary by account type. Exceeding these limits may result in temporary or permanent restrictions.

You are responsible for all data, payloads, schemas, and content that you configure or expose through your mock endpoints.

6. Intellectual Property

Your content: You retain all rights to the mock data, schemas, and configurations you create using the Service. Mimicry does not claim ownership of your content.

The platform: All rights, title, and interest in the Mimicry platform — including its design, branding, and documentation — remain with the developer. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute any part of the platform without prior written consent.

7. API Keys

Registered users may generate API keys associated with their projects. You are solely responsible for keeping your API keys confidential. If you believe a key has been compromised, you must revoke or regenerate it immediately.

The Service reserves the right to deactivate API keys at any time in case of detected abuse or security risk.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

The Service applies data retention policies that differ by account type. Guest data is temporary and subject to automatic cleanup after a period of inactivity. Registered account data is generally retained as long as the account remains active, but projects with prolonged inactivity may be flagged for removal.

Specific retention periods are communicated within the product interface and may be updated from time to time. For details on what data is collected and how long it is stored, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

9. Service Availability

Mimicry is provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. As a personal project, the developer does not guarantee continuous availability, absence of errors, or compatibility with every use case. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or unforeseen issues.

The developer reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part of it) at any time, with or without notice.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the developer of Mimicry shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.

The Service is a development tool intended for testing and prototyping purposes only. Mock endpoints should not be used in production environments or to serve real user traffic. The developer assumes no responsibility for any damages resulting from misuse of the Service in a production context.

11. Termination

The developer reserves the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, without prior notice, if you violate these Terms or engage in abusive behavior.

You may delete your account at any time through the profile settings. Upon deletion, your data will be permanently removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

12. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms of Service (and any non-contractual disputes/claims arising out of or in connection with them) are subject to the laws of Italy, without regard to choice or conflicts of law principles.

Further, you and Mimicry agree to the jurisdiction of Italy to resolve any dispute, claim, or controversy that relates to or arises in connection with these Terms of Service (and any non-contractual disputes/claims relating to or arising in connection with them).

If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, you may also be entitled to submit a complaint through the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform, available at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

13. Changes to These Terms

These Terms may be updated from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
